Mom and I have been walking 2 miles a day around an indoor track and it is doing wonders for me. I shot up to 237 pounds but quickly worked my way back down to 229 today. Now if only I could keep it up…I have to go back home soon, and changing excercise routines usually means bad news for me.
Failure
•November 23, 2007 • Leave a CommentI always feel like such a failure. I stopped writing in my food journal just after Halloween…..theres always so much stuff going on in life….but I feel like my concern with my weight isn’t getting enough of my attention. I really want to make it the center of my life so that no matter what Im working on, where I travel or what I do in a day it will ALWAYS come first and I wont fail anymore at keeping track of my calories
I Suppose This Proves My Blog Was Aptly Named
•November 2, 2007 • 1 CommentI was going to say, this is Cyndi, trying again….but I didn’t really stop trying. I am sincerely sorry to those who were supporting me. I feel I let you down, and my just dropping out didn’t exactly reflect my gratitude for the readers that had faithfully visited. I decided to start an internet business and made plans to spend six weeks at home on my island so I feel like my blogging fell through. For the last fifteen days Ive taken my own advice and started keeping a journal of what I consume…and its going swimmingly. I’ve also decided that although I want to continue the focus of weight loss in this blog I also would like to blog about my personal life. But to keep it reader friendly I’m going to take a cue from Perez and label those posts as “Specifically Cyndi”…then readers can easily skip over them, as unlike so many thousands of bloggers out there I’m aware people aren’t interested with my every thought and feeling….but if you are, you can feel welcome to check out those entries as well as the ones more centered around weight loss.
First few days are always the hardest
•October 1, 2007 • 1 CommentFor the last week I have been exclusively consuming Ensure Nutrition Drinks until midnight when I have a light meal with my husband Jason when he gets off work. My body reacted ..I would say…angrily, shocked by the mere 500 calories per day until midnight when I then consume 500-800 more. It is popular belief that one can gain weight more easily if they eat after 8pm..personally I dont believe this, even though my mother is constantly insisting its true. There are studies to support both opinions.
I was feeling a little thinner and more confident last night and decided to enjoy it by going out to the bar for a while. Adjusting to life in northern New York has helped me have more time to focus on my weight loss journey. I enjoy life here and Plattsburgh is very laid back. I was really surprised when I showed up at the bar in my glittery halter top and skinny jeans to find myself in a sea of hemp tie dye dresses and dread locks. The music of the area is fun, think Counting Crows (I’m aware they’re from ‘Frisco) with a raggae twist. The thing I noticed right away was that I no longer had the pressure of worrying how I look at concerts and bars, a big propeller of success when I’m in Canada, where tight and skin bearing outfits are the norm on the night scene. Ones appearance seems seems to be of much less importance here. This could also turn out to be negative since I previously would envision myself wearing a seemingly unattainable outfit to push myself to diet harder and excercise more often. I am very hungry, but with the exception of a moment of weakness last night when I ate a slice of pizza everything is going well.
Thank you for your patience! :)
•September 24, 2007 • Leave a CommentHey everyone
Thank you all sooo much for being so patient! My husbands computer came down with a bad virus that had our network disconnected for a few days. I was very upset because there really isnt anything worse for a new growing blog than to post so intermittently. Thanks also for the encouraging comments! You made my day. Just want to get this post up quickly but more soon.
Starve and Binge…starve and binge
•September 17, 2007 • 3 CommentsMy shipment of Ensure meal replacements doesnt come in until tomorrow. The bus doesnt run on Sunday. My phone is broken so I cant even call a cab to go to the grocery store. All these are just excuses why I avoided eating all day long only to cook up a huge portion of pasta this evening and ravenously put it away while watching Arrested Development. Now I have a headache and I feel stuffed. Sickeningly stuffed. Im not sure why but I always feel for some reason I will be exempt from the invariable formula. Periods of starving will always be followed by a binge. Even anorexics more ofen than not experience this. What goes up must come down, every action has a reaction and every starve will be followed by a binge. Fasting is another matter all together but as for just starving all day…doesnt work. Sorry to say.
If you do this, weight loss is gaurantee’d!
•September 16, 2007 • Leave a CommentHere’s a tried and true weight loss tip that is gaurantee’d to help you drop pounds. Its is simple and free BUT like any weight loss aid that actually works you need to put the effort into it and actually use it everyday for it to work for you. If you have 15 minutes a day to devote to it and the willpower to do so, your set.
Listen to anyone with a weight loss success story and usually one of the first things they’ll tell you they did was begin by writing down everything they ate each day. Not only does it help you realize how many calories your taking in, but if you decide to seek help from a dietitian or doctor this will assist them enormously in designing a course of action for you.
But forget about reading the package labels, weighing foods and calculating your carbs. Go to www.fitday.com. You can open a free membership that tracks your calories, fat, carbs, vitamins everything you need and more. Just type in the foods you ate that day and it pretty much does the rest for you. Want a faster way to track a particular meal you eat all the time? You can add your own “foods” into the listings …just figure out what ingridients are included the first time and ever after your fitday account will perfectly track the nutritional value of your favorite casserole, sandwich or cocktail. Thats right…dont forget about beverages, they can often make up 45% of your calorie intake! Good luck !
By the way a number of you are proably saying to yourselves “just because Im writing down what I eat doesnt GAURNATEE I’ll lose some of it. But believe me..if you have the discipline to record everything that goes into your mouth , or if using www.fitday.com helps you gain this skill, you have all the tools you need to be well on your way to skinny.
Whats on your mind? Let me know :)
•September 16, 2007 • 3 CommentsI’m really excited that hundreds of people have started reading my little blog everyday…so soon. But I’m curious because not a one has posted a comment. Hopfully it isnt everyone having a case of “if you have nothing nice to say dont say anything at all”. But Im curious. Positive or negative..post your thoughts, or tell me your own story about your struggle with your weight
The absolute easiest way to begin losing weight!
•September 16, 2007 • Leave a CommentI ordered a new shipment of Ensure meal replacements today. Drinking a meal replacement helps me drop pounds quickly and easily because I can focus my energy on excercise rather than wasting time planning out and cooking nutritious meals. Dont you just love things that make your life easier? I do. I appreciate the convenience of having breakfast and lunch not only pre-prepared but in easily consumable liquid form. It definetly keeps me out of starve/binge mode!
Cant afford the pricey prepared drinks or bars? Most meal replacement lines also make the product in a powder form sold in canisters. Slim Fast is a good one but you can save even more cash by going with a no name brand. Dont be fooled by fancy packaging, the brands generally stack up similarly in calories and nutients. While your at the store be sure to buy a slim funnel that will fit inside the neck of a plastic water bottle (should be in every hardware section). Before you leave for work in the morning, place the funnel in the bottle and sprinkle in a serving of your meal replacement powder. Then funnel in some milk and give it a shake. You now have lunch to go!
Warning: If your like me, the meals you enjoyed before probably had 10x the calorie/fat content than your new meal replacements. Be warned..for the first week or two you WILL be hungry! DONT make the mistake I and so many others have made of thinking you’ll have that satisfying “full” feeling once you’ve consumed your first Slim Fast shake. But what will satisfy you is knowing that this hunger is just your bodies way of adjusting to the calorie intake it was designed for. In a week or two your meal replacement should begin to satisfy you, this means your body is becoming used to what is generally recognized as a good amount of nutrition rather than being overloaded (or super starved!) all day long. Keep in mind if you are severely overweight, your proper calorie intake is higher then say a person who is 150 pounds. You should DEFINETLY supplement your meal replacement with something like a piece of fruit until you get into a lower weight range. I hope everyone finds this useful!
If your still skeptical because of the cost of the meal replacements, dont let it fool you. Its actually VERY economical when you consider how much food you would have bought in place of the can of powder. The average canister of meal replacement powder costs the same as ONE average drive thru meal! and can last about 1 month!
Thank you!
•September 13, 2007 • 1 CommentJust wanted to thank everyone for stopping by this week! I never dreamed I’d get so many readers so soon!
